Commodore made it big with their line of IBM compatible PCs. Commodore were constantly among the top-3 manufactores in the world until the crisis in the PC market in 1993, which made Commodore create a new company called "Commodore PC-Division" which would be owned and operated 100% by Acer. Commodore then went all out for the Amiga products that were still highly successful, but that couldn't make up the deficit from their PC production, and in 1994 Commodore closed down :-(
